The Sun Shines On Your Playlist

The assembly process for our new adventure continues, with our only limitation being our memory and our imagination. As we discuss the merits of, say, Ace Frehley's version of "Back In The New York Groove" (not specifically summery, but definitely gold at a summer party) or Jay Ferguson's "Thunder Island" (yeah, no discussion necessary, it's totally in) we're finding the need to invite others in on the discussion.

You've got a few songs you HAVE to hear when you're out on the beach, right? Right?

There's a comment button below. Use it, and let us know what yours are.  Don't worry about duplicating someone else's picks - what you're really doing is voting, and all the candidates are write-in.

We're just about to pull this thing away from the dock, and we want you there with us. Hop aboard!

From The Depths Of Silver Bay To The Shores Of The Imagination

Saturday, June 7; Silver Bay.

Always assume cocktails of shattering potency and irresistable flavor are involved. Beer serves as a backup. In this case, the fuel mix involved Ginger Mojitos (Rum, Lime, Mint, Ginger Beer and Domaine De Canton Liqueur.) For the foamier palates, Brooklyn Lager. In cans, never in bottles. Bottles break, and breakage is not what we're after.

The sun did the thing it always does when gentle breezes drift by and rock our tethered boats without the merest hint of urgency. We baked, and the soundtrack for our casual caramelization played on. Sinatra's "Summer Wind". Marley's "Is This Love". "Margaritaville".

Conversations. Could this day get any better? It could. A JetSki was brought to bear, and the more experienced gunned it while those less so held on for dear life. Their wake rippled energy across the bay. The boats strained against their mutual moorings for a moment, then relaxed again.

The sun. Always the sun. Until there was only a little sun left to have.

I thought, "I want to bottle this so I can have it whenever I want it. This feeling, this spirit, this soundtrack." Or something like that, it's kind of a blur.

So we're putting it in The Beach Bag. When it's ready, we hope you'll take it with you.
